This Japanese Antique Copper-Bronze Mirror of Flower Crest with Box by Masatsugu dates to the Meiji period, turn of the century portion, of 1868-1921, or maybe a little earlier. it is rare to find an old mirror with the box. They are usually well cared for. According to the seller, it is made by Masatsugu, of whom we will need to do further research- but, the maker is known. The pattern on the front demonstrates a family crest pattern of the old days with a flower in the center. It is most likely made by the lost wax method. It is a cool piece. The patina is still on the front, although it looks like someone cleaned the back of the mirror of patina, it is hard to say. It was also hard to get a picture of the mirror part, so you might see me in some of the pictures! It is age appropriate condition with no significant damages, and the box has wear as expected. It is signed by Masatsugu on the bottom left side.
