This Japanese Vintage Cloisonné and Enameled Brass Floral Kogo or Ink Pad is about 20-30 years old. It was a purchase from Japan. It is quite lovely and in excellent condition. A kogo is used for holding incense and historically most often for the tea ceremony, at the temple, and for the small worship area in the home. The kogo are also wonderful items of character to decorate with, in addition to placing small items in around the house and many people have large collections of them, they make a great collector's item. It could also be used for an ink stamp pad, but less likely. It is artisan made and the base maybe with a mold, and hand decorated with a chrysanthemum and bright polychrome colours and all outlined in gold. The inside and bottom are painted in ground glass work as usually done in a cloisonne kogo, and it looks like cloisonne. Please see our large collection of kogos from Japan of different makers, famous artists, ages, motif, size and colour. This was an original sale price, and I have listed as such so I do not inadvertently mark it down again should we have another sale!

SIZE: Diameter/ Width 3.07 inches or 7.8 cm, Height 1.1 inches or 2.50 cm.
