This Chinese vintage porcelain pot is glazed in fine indigo blue called Ruri glaze in Chinese. A water pot, to be used as a tea, chocolate or coffee pot. It is all handmade as one can see from the pictures. In our opinion and because of how it is made, it dates to near mid- century, over just after the People's Republic of China was established on May 23, 1951. It is a great and uniquely design porcelain piece with the spout as the mouth of a bird, I am thinking of the mythological Fenghuang or hoho bird, whichever, it is great! It fits well in the hands with the foot size and curved handle, it is almost just ergonomic and is a nice size to hold and pick up and pour. It should hold about 3.5- 4 cups or 28-32 ounces. This is a nice size. The overall style is really neat with all its curves from top to bottom. It has decorative borders and a nicely shaped lid and foot. It is in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. It has a kiln flaw which is not a damage crack as it occurred in the kiln, so will not expand. It is a great water pot for cold or hot fliudsand could also be used for a beverage like plum wine if one prefers, or as a decorative cabinet piece. There are eight additional close-up pictures not seen here on the Facebook page post dated September 16, 2016; the link is on our homepage.
