This Japanese vintage reddish brown pottery vase is so similar looking to a carved piece of lacquerware we have, even after I held it and took pictures, I had a TIA and thought it was. But, after someone pointed out to me on facebook it looked like pottery, back I went and realized they were correct. It is unmarked, as beautiful as it is, I do not know what it is. It may be Tokoname Ware, it does look very similar and is 'carved' in low relief in the same fashion as our Tokoname teapot. It is hand made and slip molded and glazed in reddish brown and looks much like lacquer ware. It is probably about 40-50 years old. It is in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips. We will need to confirm the mark with someone, it looked much like the Murakami mark. or so I thought. Pottery that looks like lacquerware! Very pretty.
