This Japanese natural salmon colored coral and silver tone brooch or pin dates to mid 20th century. The coral is light natural coral that has been painted a salmon color. Since it is post -1952 according to the seller from Japan's age given, it is not sterling but rather, a costume silver tone piece. We do believe there is a silver content to it as a mixed metal. It looks like it has been painted on the outside, this is possible as we cannot get a read on the silver test kit at all. The pin is designed with two rounded leaves and what looks like part of bow delicately rounded along one side. There are five coral beads, about 5 mm each. The coral is natural light sea coral which has been painted. It is very naturally pretty and very retro- classy looking. It would go with many different styles regardless of its age. It is in excellent condition, with the exception of a slightly bent pin, which I seem to often do to mine. It came in this box that goes with it, although I do not know what it says. It is an interesting and unusual piece in the way it is made. An very nicely designed Japanese retro brooch or pin.
