This Japanese vintage faux ivory brooch or pin is one of six I collected in a group of vintage costume type jewelry from a lady in Japan. This one is a rectangle shape, with a floral decoration carved. I am unsure of the material, it feels almost like real ivory but it is not and it is not plastic. I do not know the age, but believe by appearance these pins range from the 1940's to the 1970's. The silver pin on back is probably plated as it is not painted anything. These type pins are used for everyday wear, including the office, or wedding accessories. It is in very good condition no scratches and the pin works fine although it is slightly bent. This piece is about 2" long or 5.08 cms. Please see our other interesting Japanese costume jewelry, as well as a small collection of Trifari to come.
