This Japanese Vintage 美濃焼 Mino Ware Glazed Vase was made by 三陶作 Kin Santō-saku gama or kiln about 40 years ago. Mino ware is a general name for ceramic wares made in the town of Tajimi in old Mino province now the south-eastern part of Gifu prefecture. This is a very nice and good sized piece. It is first made of white Mino ware pottery. A long and square neck giving way to a rounded lower size slightly pulled upwards as are the handles. Then, it is hand glazed in three colors including those similar to the yellow and black Seto which also now falls under Mino ware, or ki-Seton and Setoguro. This is Mino ware of sansai 三彩 style, or an item painted in three colors, in this case black, brown and yellow. It is in excellent condition, no chips or cracks. This fine vase comes with the original tomobako from the kiln, which says Mino Ware in large lettering then is signed with the name of the kiln as mentioned above. The tomobako is an important accessory to Japanese ceramics for both future value and safe keeping. This is a very lovely vase with great glaze and colors.

From the website of the International ceramics festival of Mino in 2014:
What is 美濃焼 Mino Ceramic Ware?
In the Tono region of Gifu Prefecture during the late Kofun period of 7th century, pottery called Sue Ware, different to clay pottery, was fired in Anagama kilns made by digging into mountain slopes. This is thought to be the origin of Mino Ceramics Ware. Today, it includes general Mino tableware which very much resembles some Arita ware; Oribe ware, and Seto- pottery- ki-Seto yellow Seto and Setoguro black Seto.
