A delightful Edwardian necklace with pear shaped peridot drop and seed pearl detail. Circa 1900.
The necklace has many special design features typical of this bon vivant period of jewelry style.
There is a floral wreath detail at the center of the necklace with elegant bows leading to the fine chain. The two bows are set with one small seed pearl each.
The gold is 14 k yellow gold (acid tested, worn hallmark).
The apple green peridot is a pear shape or tear drop shape, with the size estimated to be 10 x 6.5 x 3.5 mm (1.4 carats). It is bezel set with delicate millegrain detail on the edge. The peridot setting is attached to the rest of the necklace via a length of gold which is articulated, allowing subtle movements.
The combination of floral wreath, green peridot and white seed pearls represent spring and happiness.
The necklace is in very good condition. It weighs 5.2 grams.
The length of the necklace is approximately 40 cm (16.5 inch). The wreath has an outside diameter of 21 mm (7/8 inch). The peridot drop is 24 mm (1 inch)
