A stunning and large ornate necklace with moonstones. Origin estimated to be Indian subcontinent, circa 1900.
There are 21 moonstones, 10 of which are cat's eye. The moonstone is a sacred stone in Indian jewelry, and this amulet is quite mesmerising.
The gemstones have a slightly mauve or grey color and well complimented by the silver setting. Each stone is claw set and surrounded by a rope detail.
The silver is 800 fineness or continental silver. The chain, and small bells dropping from the hollow tear shaped pendant, are all silver.
The obverse of the pendant has a lovely repousse floral detail.
The chain length is 96 cm or 37 inches. The pendant is 80 mm long or 3 and 3/16 inches. The width is 73 mm or 2 and 7/8 inch.
The necklace weighs 72.2 grams.
