A very large Art Deco era Egyptian Revival Ankh cross pendant. Circa 1920
The natural turquoise cabochon are bead set in 14 k (acid tested) yellow gold. There is filigree detailing between the edges of the cross which are a more greenish 14 k gold.
The ankh cross is a symbolic representation of the physical and eternal life.
After Tutankamun's tomb was found in the early 20th century, ancient Egyptian motifs embellished many beautiful pieces of jewelry.
The condition is very good for its age.
This cross is 8 cm long (from the tip of the bail/loop) or 3 and 1/16 inches. The width is 4.2 cm or 1 and 9/16 inch.
