A beautiful Edwardian Blue Topaz ring made in Edinburgh during 1904 in the middle of Belle Epoque jewelry excellence.
The large blue Topaz is an old European cut oval shaped gemstone. It is 14 mm x 9 mm (1/2 x 3/8 inch) and is estimated in the setting as 4.5 carats.
The settings is very cleverly made. It is 9 k yellow gold (hallmarked). The basket weave and solid base under the gemstone offers a reflective surface to light. This means the light is rapidly reflected back through the large gemstone, creating a dazzling liveliness, particularly under candlelight.
1904 is at the high point of Edwardian jewelry and this solid but delicate looking ring is delightful. The condition is excellent
