Many years ago, I purchased a few pieces of old French glass jewellery, including this bracelet. Although it is unmarked, I believe that this unusual bracelet was made in France during the 1930's.

The poured glass beads are of the type made by the Maison Gripoix for clients such as Piguet, Chanel, Worth, and Jaques Fath from as early as the 1920's, and, later, for Dior, Yves St. Laurent and Balmain, among others. Translucent red, green, blue and purple round and pear-shaped glass beads hang from heavy metal links. A length of beads also cascades down the front of the bracelet. Five round metal beads, possibly made of gilded brass, are interspersed throughout the bracelet. All of the beads are drilled through and capped with brass heads. There is a secure, sturdy spring ring closure. The bracelet is app. 8 inches long, and the front cascade drops app. 2.75 inches; the bracelet has a very nice weight.

This bracelet is in very good vintage condition, with no damage to the glass beads, but some uneven colour wear in the metal beads. I doubt whether you will find another bracelet like this one - it is definitely dramatic and unique!
