This is a beautiful Old Tea Cup and Saucer Bowl. The Teacup shows Faith, Hope and Charity. Deeper bowl type saucer . Wishbone style handle. In good condition considering this set is over 100 yrs old. Featuring age appropriate wear, no identifying marks. I believe it is English Staffordshire . There are no makers marks . Decorated with transfer prints of faith hope and charity . Normal crazing and some discoloration noted I have not tried to clean this item but find it looks wonderful as is! The tea saucer measures approx. 1 1/4" DEEP BY 5 1/2" ACROSS . THE TEACUP 2 1/2" TALL BY 3 1/2 " ACROSS THE TOP. I NOTE ON THE saucer RIM---it is under the glaze and may be a small DEFECT.OTHERWISE EXCEPTIONALLY WELL PRESERVED.
The story of Faith , Hope and Charity: A story of a second-century Roman / Mother who sacrificed herself and her daughter Faith , Hope & Charity.
Faith was the first of the girls put to torture before her mother. When Her mother failed to plea for mercy , Faith was put to death by sword. Hope followed her sister in death, followed by her Sister Charity. Sept 17th is the day to commemorate these 3 Saints.
