A gorgeous 19 TH Century French Renaissance porcelain and gilt brass easel photograph frame. Circa 1870. Each side is cast with alternating rectangular reserves of hand painted porcelain plaques and reflective glass. The porcelain and scroll angles are cast with stiff acanthus S-scrolls and foliate tendrils, scroll cresting the center of the frame, with rope twist boarder, applied throughout with cabochon gem set stones. The porcelain plaques have hand painted depictions of angels and a child(the top plaque pictures an angel writing in a book while a reclining male robed figure looks on and the center bottom plaque depicts a reclining robed figure holding a lyre while the angel is walking away with a book.
The frame contains a fashion print, with a lady and child. They are original to my acquisition and are very pleasing I think.
This frame has been extremely well cared for and has no issues. The reverse is brown paper covered and secured to the frame, original to my purchase. There is a white paper sticker attached to the brown backing which reads; Lith Druck v Veriag v With Hermes in Berlin. You will love this beautiful frame.
