From Gillian has on offer this lovely antique(ca 1900-20) 9 carat gold and opal bar brooch upcycled to a pendant neck chain. I had an idea and with my jewelers help we designed this pendant neck chain. On my travels buying jewelry in England I have come across so many beautiful bar pin/brooches. They were very popular in the day, but in todays world these lovely pieces are very often overlooked. So my jeweler help me design this application for these pieces. Here's my first offering. We used a 9 carat plain bar brooch with a opal clover-like flower attached and removed the pin and applied 14K bales to the ends. Then we applied the 14K chain to the now converted pendant. The result is this lovely necklace. The condition is excellent overall. For complete clarity I must disclose that the opal setting leaf(gold setting) on the left has been split partially, but my jeweler has secured all opals in their setting and the pendant is sound. You cannot see the split while wearing the pendant and at best you would have to, close under magnification find it. Oh, there is a tiny ruby center stone to the clover-like flower. My jeweler is an opal expert and stated to me that each of the opals contained in this piece in todays market would cost about $100.00 each to replace. This was one of the reasons we felt this piece deserved an upcycle. Measurement is overall a nice 20 inches. Arrives in a gift box.
