This exquisite double sided scent bottle was made by Charles May of Birmingham, England in 1894. It features a glass center with a deep cut diamond design. It is capped on both ends with sterling silver repousse caps, one hinged, marked with the British sterling marks. The piece measures four inches long, and three quarter inches in diameter. The hinged side would have held perfume. It is missing the glass stopper which would have originally held in the scent. The hinged cap is loose. The capped side would have likely held smelling salts. It currently has tape to enable the cap to fit tightly. This was done a long time ago and I have not tried to remove it. The silver repousse has a lovely floral design. A beautiful piece of history.
