This turn of the century smelling salts or perfume bottle would have hung from a chatelaine chain in Victorian times. The body is crystal and cut with 12 perfect zipper lines leading to a flat bottom which is marred by a small cut line. The brass cap unscrews from the glass and is adorned with enamel, giving the appearance of ruby and emerald jewels. It has a brass ring attached for hanging from the chatelaine. The interior reveals a cotton stopper, which leads me to believe that this was used for smelling salts, but if replaced with a small cork, would be completely functional for perfume. This beautiful item is 3 1/4 inches and is 3/4 inches at it's widest point.
