Stunning early pill box hat from c1940 up to the earliest years of the 1950s. Velvet triangles of burnt orange and a taupe-ish cream rest on triangles of dark chocolate felted wool. The hat's edge is trimmed in dark chocolate velvet, 1 3/8" width in front tapering to 1" width in back. Buckram foundation. A brown veil covers the entire hat. Grosgrain ribbon headband inside. The only label is a union one. This hat is in beautiful unworn condition. I bought it from a private vintage hat collection. Interior circumference is 22"; stands about 3 3/4" high. Clean as a whistle, but could use a mild steaming or reshaping. As with pillboxes, this is meant to be worn atop the hair, not pulled down like a cloche. A delightfully different sort of pill box for your vintage wardrobe.
