Here for sale is a very early Paper mache Windup cat toy. The mechanism still works , when wound it scoots along for a short distance. The housing of the cat is a poured molded paper mache covered in early wool mohair with an original shredded silk ribbon still around his neck. The eyes are green glass the nose painted pink as is the mouth . Both front feet are loose but still there and need just a little glue which I will leave to the next owner. The body measures 9 inches from nose to butt and to the end of the tail 12 inches long. He is 4 inches to the top of his ears. I used a Schuco key to wind him up but he does not have the original key I may be able to find one to send along that would work. I date this toy to the turn of the last century aprox. date 1900. I do not know the toy company of manufacture. But most likely Made in Germany The Mohair covering does show some distress and the colors are gray and old but overall he still retains his integrity and will make fine investment in an early paper mache cat toy. The wheels are tin and the base is painted white on wood.
