Presenting a never-used loose powder compact made by Zell 5th Avenue. The cover is textured satin silvertone, with goldtone flowers incised in a beautiful random pattern. The bottom of the compact is silvertone spiral textured, with 'U.S.A.' in the center. The inside is a deep goldtone that matches the cover. The unused powder puff is embossed 'Zell FIFTH AVENUE.' The hinged plate covering the powder compartment features a lovely flower and leaf engraving. Near-excellent condition; despite it being unused for powder, the compact has a few light scuff marks and patina, consistent with age. I will buff out what I can for you. The hinges and clasps work perfectly.
I can't find out much about Zell, but I believe they operated in the 1950s, and possibly the 1960s. This compact is fresh from a Washington, DC estate; the lady had many older items from the 50s and 60s.
