Fleur-de-lis, armor, and a determined look . . . who else could this be but the dauntless Joan of Arc? This detailed brooch was cast in two parts and riveted together, for a dimensional look. It has not only a pin stem, but a bail, so that you can wear it on a chain. 2-5/8" long by 2-1/4" across, and in excellent condition. Signed "Hattie Carnegie" on applied plate, on reverse. Age - stylistically, I would place this brooch in the 1970s, though it could have been produced earlier.
This pin may be seen on page 126 of "Hattie Carnegie Jewelry - Her Life and Legacy" by Georgiana McCall.
