Captivating brooch of monkey climbing a palm tree . . . too cute. Most likely from the 1930s, this pin is made from cast brass-tone metal. The palm tree's fronds are accented by clear rhinestones (a couple are missing); the climbing monkey is an applied die-stamped metal piece. In good to very good condition . . . it shows wear appropriate to (or better than) its age. 2.75" tall.
In the 1970s, this brooch was reproduced by Willie Woo - I have seen a picture of it with signature. That version is brightly enameled. I have seen other versions, too, including on page 199 of "Inside the Jewelry Box" by Ann Pitman (the palm fronds on this version are enameled) that appears to be the same vintage as this one.
