Ralph Derosa was known for his intricate floral designs. While this dress clip is very Art Deco, it still is a good example of Derosa quality. Made of pot metal, with white rhinestones, this dress clip is marked R Derosa, on the clip, and is 1 and 1/2 in long, and 1 and 1/4 in at its widest point.
In a shield shape, with a broader, squared off top, tapering to a point, the clip has a combination of emerald cut, navette, and round white, rhinestones. Across the top are several of the emerald cut stones, set as baguettes. The curves, coming down from the top, have channel set round stones. The edging follows a flattened curve, with four of the emerald cut stones, on either side.
The center is a cut out, banded in the round stones, but has a trio of navettes, as the central feature. Below the trio is a continuation of the baguette set emerald cut stones. The stones still have a lot of fire, considering the piece is from the 1930's.
While this is a relatively small piece, Derosa jewelry is not very common to find. The clip is in very good vintage condition and would jazz up a simple dress or it would make a big splash on your black evening clutch.
