You will think that this piece of fruit just came off the tree! This is one of KJL's signature pieces, with this one being the color and shape of an apricot. The brooch is 2 and 1/2in long and is 2in at its widest point.
Done in gold tone metal, all the rhinestones on the body of the "fruit" brooch are of a shimmering, medium orange color. Although the pin is not shaped like an orange, the stones are closer to that color than a true apricot, which is a softer shade. The stones are shaped as navettes, ovals, and rounds, in a random design. It is done in an open weave manner, such that when the pin is held up, one sees the spaces between the stones.
The "fruit" has a curved, 3/4 in "stem", composed of three, white, baguette rhinestones, outlined in the gold tone metal. To either side of the stem is a green, glass leaf, closed on the back and prong set. They are "carved" in a very naturalistic shape. On the back of the right leaf, as the pin is turned over, is an oval cartouche with the copyright symbol, and then KJL.
On the reverse of the brooch is a straight pin, which ends in a rolled safety catch. The metal on the back of the pin is done in a brushed texture. The brooch is in great vintage condition, coming to you from the late 1980's. While this "fruit" is not edible, you wish it was!
