Ah, the incomparable Miriam Haskell presents us with another great set! This one consists of a 31 inch necklace, with matching screw back style earrings. The pieces are designed in gold tone metal and translucent tortoise hued Lucite.
The necklace features a total of 10 rondels, five on each side of the single strand. The metal portion of each rondel is an elongated oval, ridged all around, with perforations between the ridges. This gives them a completely textured look. They are capped on each end. Two of the rondels, on each side, are captured in flattened ovals of the Lucite. All the links of the piece are round and interlocking.
The catch is of typical Haskell design. It is a pressure box clasp, with a flower shaped cover. Both earrings and neckalce are hallmarked. The neckalce is hallmarked "Miriam Haskell" on the back of the clasp while the earrings are hallmarked on the back of the earrings "Haskell" and on the inside "Miriam Haskell".
The matching earrings pick up on the rondels' motif, having one of same, ensconced in the flattened Lucite piece. They hang gracefully down, for 2-1/4 inches, via a jump ring, from the screw portion. Each screw back is capped in the same floral design as the necklace's clasp. They are 1 inch wide. While Haskell can appear whimsical, this set is definitely on the "classic look" side. As such, it is perfect for your twin set or anything else with a jewel neckline.
This set is in excellent vintage condition. It is circa the late 1940s to early 1950's.
