A small treasure, with a practical purpose, is why a stick pin holder, such as this one, had a special place on my lady's dressing table. As with the larger sister, a hat pin holder, this holder has a series of apertures designed to secure stick pins. In this case, the openings are arranged around the six sides of the holder, with one in the center. While not marked, this ceramic holder is colored in a way typical of Bavarian production, white background, floral paint, and gilded gold toned top. This lovely piece is 2" in diameter and 5" in circumference and 1-1/2" tall. It has a solid bottom, with scallops, one for each side.
The holder comes with four examples of stick pins. One has a dangle of a clear, faceted, glass "crystal ". Another sports a citrine paste stone. one has a large prong set faceted crystal and the last is a crown of four prong set citrine paste stones.
This is a fine example of a Victorian antique, far more difficult to find than a larger hat pin holder. This one is in lovely condition and will make a fine addition to a collection or look great on a dressing tray.
