This stunning Floral Brooch Book Piece is by Sarah Coventry from the 1961 "Fashion Flower" line. This brooch is a delightful collector's piece and can be found on page 215 of "Costume Jewelry: 1900-1980; Second Edition" by Aikins.
The brooch depicts a ten petal flower with its stem and two leaves. The flower consists of two offset layers of five filigreed petals. Each of the ten petals are set with an aurora borealis rhinestone. The petals surround a large aurora borealis rhinestone set in the center of the flower head. The smooth curved stem of the flower supports two openwork leaves that have a single aurora borealis rhinestone at the intersection. The very end of the stem is shaped like that of a freshly cut flower. There are a total of twelve aurora borealis rhinestones in the brooch that shift colors depending on the light and all show the characteristic red tone of original aurora borealis rhinestones.
The brooch has a straight back rollover pin closure. It measures 3 3/4" long and 1 3/4" at its widest point. Signed SaraCov. Excellent overall condition with the front of the brooch in mint condition. Circa 1960's
