While all that glitters is not gold! Joseff of Hollywood set the gold standard for adoring the movie stars from the 1930's through Elizabeth Taylor's turn as "Cleopatra". He is famous for the development of Russian "gold", a type of plating, as exemplified in this classic brooch, designed as a flower with open petals.
The piece is 2" in diameter. The finish is the semi-matte tone Joseff created especially to minimize reflection, when worn under powerful studio lights. The brooch also follows the inclination of many of his pieces in that he favored natural/realistic forms drawn from nature. This great pin follows suit, with its simplicity lending itself to be worn dressed up or down. The reverse of the brooch is plain, with a horizontal pin, ending in a traditional roll over clasp. It is hallmarked on a cartouche "Joseff" on the back. The brooch is in lovely vintage condition, circa 1940's-1950.
Wearing this piece can make you as glam as any lady of the silver screen!
