In a pleasing hexagonal shape, this French jet hatpin is typical of a wardrobe accessory a lady of the Victorian/Edwardian eras, would require, as part of the elaborate mourning rituals embedded in those cultures. The head of the pin has a center that is raised, following the six sided shape. The rim around the raised center is "etched". The pin shank is 9" long. with some light rusting spots As the Edwardian era had the longest pin shanks, considering the length of this one, it should be placed in that category. the French jet is in excellent condition.
The hat pins that we are listing come from the personal collection of a decades long collector, who has maintained a 20 year membership in the American Hatpin Society, which is the only society dedicated to the study of and authentication of hatpins and hatpin holders. She has decided to share some of her hatpins with other collectors!
