This " I am such a lady" handbag is a very different hue, somewhere between green and beige. It has been embossed to resemble alligator, which was such a hot material for hand bags of this era, late 1950's to early 1960's. The shape is a square, that has been curved on the sides. It measures 10 in wide (at the widest point) and 8 and 3/4 in long. It has a single strap, attached on gold tone metal hinges. It matches the material of the overall purse.
The opening of the bag is at the top, set above the rigid frame, being as long as the whole bag. It is banded in thin strips of the gold tone metal. In the middle is a gold tone metal "tongue, which slides through a square opening, on the opposite side. Lifting up the "tongue" clicks the bag open and pushing it back through closes it. The open frame shows how it turns up and down on small metal balls.
The interior is a very pale beige, with one open pocket, which contains a small, original mirror. The interior is extremely clean. The bottom of the bag has brass balls, to protect it.
This "so of the moment" handbag is in great vintage condition. Check what the royals are carrying and with this on your arm, you will be right in step!
