Serious collectors (and anyone who loves a beaut of a necklace)head's up! On offer is a piece created by William deLillo, who produced his own brand for a short time in the 1960's and 1970's. His pieces are of the highest quality and are rare finds. This necklace would be right at home in the Emerald City of Oz!
Created of silver tone metal, green Lucite, and green rhinestones, the necklace is 28 in long. It is designed as a single strand, with an eye popping pendant. The chain is composed of oval silver tone links, coming together via rolled bands, which are decorated with a scrolling design. The links bring together prong set squares, which alternate, in triplicate. Each square is 6/8 in wide. The first squares (from the clasp downward) are cabochons of sea green Lucite, the second set is an emerald green, faceted/table top rhinestone, and the third set is of a grass green, pyramid faceted, Lucite stone.
The strands come to an X juncture, with the emerald green and grass green pieces forming the legs of the X, and a sea green cabochon at its center. Coming down from the X (being all of one piece) is an enormous, tear drop shaped, cabochon style stone, made of Lucite, but being the deepest of forest greens. The tear drop is bezel set and is 1 and 3/4 in long and 1 and 1/2 in wide. It is also 1/4 in high.
Bordering the tear drop are alternating squares of the emerald rhinestones and grass green Lucite stones. At the bottom most point of the tear drop is a larger (in respect of the other border stones)cabochon of sea green Lucite. While the tear drop stone is closed on the back, all of the other stones are open backed.
The clasp is made as a continual part of the chain, being a square pressure box, topped by two of the sea green Lucite cabochons. The plate slides snugly into the box, rendering the necklace very secure. On the bottom of the pressure box side is an oval cartouche, inscribed deLillo.
The necklace is in excellent vintage condition, circa 1960's-1970's. Follow the Yellow Brick Road to obtain this treasure!
