A trinket box in the shape of a box-how perfect is that! This wonderful keeper of treasures is designed as present box, being blue with a white ribbon, trimmed in gold. The "present" is 6 in in circumference and 2 in high. However, the "knotted bow" atop the box, which is done in relief, comes up about another 3/4 in. The "present" is "wrapped" in a traditional four square fashion, with the white "ribbon" being visible on all sides. Each piece of the "ribbon" is outlined in gold paint.
The box is hinged on the back. The top is "bound" by what resembles matte gold wire. There are three strands on the top and three on the bottom, where the piece opens to the front. In the center of the front is a tiny bow, all made of the aforementioned material. The inside of the box is painted white, with a gold painted bow figure , showing in the bottom.
The bottom of the box is also white, with the French words for "hand painted" appearing. In green, the bottom is also marked Limoges, France. Additionally, the initials of the person who painted the box are shown. The last initial is clearly a P, while the first one could be M or H.
This Limoges piece is not new, but not quite the 25 years old which is generally the vintage benchmark. However, it is in excellent condition, with the bottom edges showing slight wear from sitting on a surface (as opposed to being kept in a box). This boite is the perfect petit cadeau!
