Very heavy set of Brass bookends by PM Craftsman. these are some of the nicest I have seen. The New Bedford Whaling man kneeling in the front of boat ready to spear his prey. It is extremely dimensional. 6 1/2 inches tall, 6 inches in depth from tip of spear to back of bookend, and 5 inch wide from bottom of backside. The front under the seagulls flying behind it says " A Dead Whale or a Stove Boat". On the reverse it has a plaque that says " In Honor Of The Whaleman Whose Skill Hardihood And Daring Brought Fame And Fortune To New Bedford And Made Its Name Known In Every Seaport Of The Globe". The condition on these is very good with only having normal use, I see no damage. It is listed as number 151B and 152B in a Philadelphia Manufacturing Co. Catalog.
