I took one look at this mini store mannequin and all I could say was "Wow"!
She is simply gorgeous and has such a unique and sultry look. I am thinking she was made to represent a famous actress of the times, but am not familiar with that era's actresses so don't know. If you know who she looks like, please let me know!
She is truly amazing! She measures approx. 29" - 30" tall. She has the most wonderful hair styling that I have seen on any of these! It is so detailed and high fashion!
I was told that she was an original store display mannequin for the defunct Manchester's Department store that use to exist in Madison Wisconsin. It was "the" place to be seen! High fashion and located uptown and on the square. It was in existence from the 1920's through the 1970's. I remember my grandmother going there for high tea and fashion shows!
Condition wise, she no longer has the round base that she would have stood on and I have her standing up using a doll stand. She has a damaged spot on her mid neck area that is hidden by her necklace. I have included a picture that shows that area. She has a small rub on her left eyelid that can easily be repainted. It has a very shallow indentation. A few rubs on her hair and a rub on the tip of her nose. Some very fine crazing lines.
She does not have arms with hands, but rather cloth upper arms that affix to the sides of her dress. I believe these are as old as she is but do not know if this is original to her. Her dress is awesome! I love the vibrant large flowers and the wide belt with clear buckle. There are a few holes in it, they are easily hid in the folds of the garment since it is so full. If I kept her, I would most likely patch those from the inside.
Checkout my pics and magnify them for detail. She is totally great!
Note: I put her in composition as I didn't have another category to put her in. I think she is more like a hard latex type of material?
