Exquisite 15" Bahr & Proschild Early 204 Closed Mouth German Doll

This girl has a face that will melt your heart! She was dearly loved by a friend of mine who passed away this past year. She purchased her on her 60th birthday in 2000 on a trip to tour German doll and toy manufacturers. Purchased from Gundi Groh's shop. I have searched for her online and it appears that there are paintings she has done that are adorable and feature dolls and children. She was born in 1940, so I do not know if she is still doing artwork. On to the doll!

She is approximately 15 1/2" tall. Bisque melton-type head with two holes on the flattened top for stringing. Original blown glass brown eyes are surrounded by loads of finely painted eyelashes. Heavy feathered brown eyebrows enhance her brown eyes. She has a closed mouth with white space between her beautifully painted lips. She is an early version of the 204, made prior to 1888 as she only has her mold number and the size number 3 at the bottom of her neck. She has her original body of wood and composition. Straight wrists and separate balls at her shoulders and hips. There has been some old repairs to her body and finish was put on to try to match to the rest of the body. I can see the neck area, the top of her left arm, top of her left leg and on her back at her buttocks. She is strung well.

Her right her ear had restoration to the lower edge of it at some point. I'm assuming fill was put there due to the earring hole being cracked through to the bottom. Fill was put in, but it is not repainted. See pictures. A tiny touch of paint will hide the fill well. I have backlit her head and the ear and the only damage is on the bottom of the earlobe. Light cheek rub on her right cheek.

Gorgeous antique curly blonde mohair wig. She is dressed in an adorable antique/vintage cream and pink floral cotton dress and wears drawers and a petticoat. Antique socks and shoes.

She is a gorgeous doll and displays so well.
