Offered is this very stately looking all original german Paper-mache antique doll. Circa 1850s, covered wagon or Greiner style hair.
The doll herself stands at approx. 13 1/4" tall. She is mounted on a wood base, so with that she measures approx.. 14 1/4" tall. Wood base is very old and likely original to her. Her clothing is sewn on her, so I could not remove for pictures and can't see it all, but have looked her over as well as I can. She has wood lower legs and feet with blue painted shoes. The shoes appear to be a separate piece from the legs and one of the shoes is nailed through to the base. The base itself has a dowel with an arrow shaped wooden top that goes between the doll's legs. Her body is kid leather and upper legs are in very good condition with red bands around the top of her wooden legs. Her arms are carved wood. I can't get under the bodice to look at the upper part of her body. It feels intact.
Her shoulderhead appears to have original paint. There are a few scuffs, the most prominent on her nose tip. Rubs on the right side of her head, small amount on back and very minor otherwise. Her original dress is possibly a linen?, not positive. Great pattern and details, it fits her very tightly. Some splits and tears, but overall in good condition for the age of the doll and dress.
A great size for a milliner model doll, most are under 10" tall.
