Offered is an antique paper mache head doll who is 22" tall. She has gorgeous big original blue set glass eyes and her original dark brown mohair wig with original red silk bows in her hair!
Circa 1860-1880. Her papier-mache shoulder head is in overall good condition. There is a surface crack on her front shoulder plate and back has repaint on it. I love her open closed mouth look with tiny painted teeth! She has multi-stroke light brown eyebrows. A little irregularity in her left eye cut as is common with these dolls. Her dark brown mohair "wig" is quite full, so many of these are missing some of their hair or it is very thin. The red bows are fragile.
She has her original oilcloth ? body. Overall condition is good, the right leg has some stitches out at the top. You could restitch or leave 'as is' as it isn't hurting anything. Black socks are sewn over the cloth part of her lower legs. Her arms are composition and in good condition with wonderful modeling of her hands.
She is wearing antique pantaloons, full cotton slip with sleeves and darling red embroidered shorter cotton slip. Over this she has a cotton antique dress with black velvet ribbon at her bodice. Vintage straw hat.
She displays beautifully!
