A work of art that can both be seen and be seen in. Presenting a signed suite from Mexico consisting of a hinged bib collar necklace with matching bracelet with Inlaid Lapis Lazuli in 970 Fine Silver circa 1930s.
An exceptional suite , the Lapis Lazuli is a brilliant azure blue with veins of white and flecks of black and gold. Each bank of Lapis is hand cut, polished and artfully inlaid in fine 970 Silver with graduated links which are jointed together by pinned hinges. These hinges allow the necklace to hang perfectly and gives movement to the bracelet.
This stunning suite features a 18" x 1" x .25" necklace with inlaid Lapis Lazuli ranging from 18mm x 18mm to 14mm x 6mm in 970 fine Silver. There are 27 hinged links weighing 33.2 grams. The matching bracelets measure 7" x .5" x .25" with inlaid Lapis Lazuli measuring 12.5mm x 5mm in 970 fine Silver and joined by a hinged links weighing 14.7 grams for a total weight of 47.9 grams. Both pieces close securely with box clasps.
This suite is in excellent vintage condition with no blemishes, chips or repairs. It is visibly hallmarked " 970" (Greater than Sterling Silver) and a unidentified makers mark. JSP testing solution was used to verify all precious metals. A Presidium Duo Gem tester was used to verify the natural gemstones. The gemstones were acetone tested for color fastness. This item was examined using ultraviolet light and a microscope. The gemstone is Natural not Lab Created.
Mexico adopted the eagle head mark (post-1948) and later changed to a letter and number system (post-1980's). This suite can be dated 1948 or later.
