This is an unique and rare piece that features 4 strands of well matched salmon “Noble Coral” Coral beads ranging from 5.9mm x 6.3mm. The beads are very high quality with few to no blemishes. The strands measure 15", 17.5", 19" and 21.5". They are attached to a pierced and carved 44mm x 41mm x 6mm Coral pendant on a Sterling Silver frame that measures 50mm x 41mm x 6mm. The necklace weighs 110.4 grams and is silver. It closes securely with a hidden box clasp and two safety catches.
This piece is in stunning vintage condition with no blemishes or repairs. It is visibly hallmarked Silver and tested as 925 Sterling Silver. A Presidium Gem tester was used to verify all gemstones. JSP testing solution was used to verify the precious metals. This item was microscopically examined. The gemstones were acetone tested for color fastness.
Noble Coral known as Corallium rubrum and is considered to be the most desirable type of Coral for jewelry. Noble Coral also includes the popular 'angel skin Coral', a pink to salmon (momo Coral).
The Coral pendant is carved with two serpents which are on either side and face each other at the top. Between them is a circle divided into four parts. In many similar carvings this was meant to show some kind of joining. A similar caving is of a serpent or dragon and phoenix facing each other in a similar way to celebrate a marriage. The symbols inside the circle are for; center, husband or man and wisdom. The others I do not know. The pendant is beautifully pierced and carved and is mounted to a Silver frame that holds a hidden box clasp.
