After 1955 until 1979 an Eagle with head forward was used as the standard hallmark. After 1979 a letter and number system was used for the standard.

Sigifredo “Sigi” Pineda was born in Taxco, Mexico in 1929. At the age of 10 he began a apprenticeship in a small silversmith shop. Throughout his teens he traveled throughout Mexico, apprenticing at multiple silver workshops acquiring skills and experience. He spent 3 years working for Los Castillio and 4 years working with silver and enameling for Margot de Taxco. In 1952 at the age of 23 he opened his own independent silver workshop named Plateros, later it was renamed Sigi. He did this in order to create his own original modernist designs, which he is still producing today.
