Plique-à-Jour Vermeil Sterling Silver Butterfly Brooch Pin c1960s
Presenting a Butterfly brooch / pin in Vermeil Sterling Silver in a plique a jour style. Beautifully enameled in greens and yellows on fine filigree setting circa 1960s.
This charming butterfly, made of vermeil sterling silver features enameled fine filigree in a “Plique-à-jour” (French for "letting in daylight") ” style. The colors are a vibrant yellow and green. It measures 5“ x 1.25“ x .5” and weighs 5 grams. It closes securely with a rolled safety clasp.
The piece is visibly hallmarked “Italy” “925" and a makers mark “PPC”. The first P stands for an unknown artist and the remaining “PC” stands for city of Piazencia, were it was made.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no blemishes or breaks. JSP testing solution is used to verify precious metals.
“Plique-à-jour” (French for "letting in daylight") features a transparent enameling on a filigree base. When held to the light it has a stained-glass effect with the light shining through like windows.
