Presenting a David Andersen Sterling Silver SAGA series. A reproduction of a Viking design of a piece that was found at Eidanger, Telemark. The original piece dates from between 500 and 1000AD and the reproduction is made circa 1960s.
The brooch measures 1.675" x 1.675" x .25" and weighs 9.4 grams. It closes securely with a early form of rollover safety clasp.
This piece is in excellent vintage condition with no blemishes or repairs. It is visibly hallmarked “D.A. Norway Sterling 925S” for David Andersen and 925 / 1000 silver. JSP testing solution was used to verify all precious metals.
David Andersen SAGA jewelry comprises replicas of original pieces most of them at present in the Historical Museum in Oslo, Norway. The unique ornaments testify to a profound artistry and have highly developed decorative effect. Among the old Norsemen, precious metals were highly prized and the goldsmiths of the Viking Age were often masters at their craft.
