Presenting a suite of foilate motif Abalone inlay in a Sterling Silver setting circa 1940.
This stunning signed suite from Mexico features brilliant colors and very fine craftsmanship. The 14" x .5" x .125" leaf motif necklace features inlaid Abalone in Sterling Silver and closes securely with a hidden box clasp. The matching pair of 1.25" x .5" x .5" earrings carry forward the same nature motif and the screw backs hold the earrings securely. The suite weighs 29.5 grams.
This suite is in excellent vintage condition with no blemishes or repairs. The piece is visibly hallmarked ‘Mexico Sterling Taxco M.P.' for a unknown artist associated with Los Castillo and Taller Borda and 925/1000 silver. The screw backs on the earrings are Alpaca; a silver tone metal that does not have silver in it. They are marked accordingly. JSP testing solution was used to verify all precious metals. A Presidium Gem tester was used to verify the gemstone. The gemstone was acetone tested for color fastness. This item was examined using ultraviolet light and a microscope.
