Comments: In the 1960s, Oscar de la Renta developed a reputation for his classic and opulent designs thanks to his long, romantic gowns. In 1973 he was named president of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and launched the CFDA awards, of which he would later be a distinguished winner in 1990, 2000 and 2007. For the next two decades, the designer would devote his talent to his ready-to-wear collections, including his line of fashion jewelry.

A well known protégée and former couture designer of Oscar de la Renta's is Iradj Moini. Moini's jewelry is now highly sought after.
