It seems that some people call these kind of mold "aspic" molds. Maybe some similar molds were used for that sort of dishes in anglo-saxon countries but in Alsace and other German areas this is the typical mold for the so-called "Kugelhopf". This is a very nice dessert : Kugelhopf consists of a soft yeast dough which contains raisins, almonds and possibly Kirschwasser cherry brandy.
This mold is made from heavy Alsatian terra cotta clay with a beautiful deep orange glaze. It is a little mold. Recent molds are still produced but this one dates from the beginning of the 20th century. Great condition. Some very superficial chips on the edge. A very classical culinary pottery in a special format.
