This bentwood bride's box comes from Alsace. It is extremely small. Was it a miniature made for children or does this kind of little box was dedicated to a special jewel ? To be honest, I simply do not know. I date it from the mid part of the XIXth century.
The lid is decorated with a red rose pattern enhanced by white points. The box is painted in a dark blue colour. The polychromy is still in pretty nice condition yet I have to mention a few scratches on the edges and a white paint run. The box itself is in good condition.
I insist on the fact that this kind of size is quite unusual.
