This traditional bentwood bride's box is from Rhineland origin, probably Alsatian. The lid is decorated with a rare theme showing a shepherd with his dog. The left side of the lid is the "night side" (stars, sheep in danger near the precipice) whereas the right side is the "day side" where you will notice the sun and a trailer that symbolizes the fields works. The edges of the box are decorated with sheep, goats and trees. The polychromy has been pretty well preserved. The box itself is in good condition. A few chips and little scratches you will see on the pictures.
