It seems that some people call these kind of mold "aspic" molds. Maybe some similar molds were used for that sort of dishes in anglo-saxon countries but in Alsace and other German areas this is the typical mold for the so-called "Kugelhopf". This is a very nice dessert : Kugelhopf consists of a soft yeast dough which contains raisins, almonds and possibly Kirschwasser cherry brandy.
This mold is made from heavy Alsatian terra cotta clay with a beautiful deep orange glaze. It is enhanced by a a fine green edging. As a small mold it is pretty decorative. Recent molds are still produced but this one is for sure dating from the XIXth century. You can notice a crack and some chips on the sides but it looks great. A highly collectible culinary antiquity !
