What a gift for that collector. These WWII patches and bars, metals, come with a certificate from WWI. The certificate is the grandfather of the service man , that the WWII military air force patches belonged to. This is a estate sale find. I did not get a lot of information on either serviceman. USS Standard Arrow (ID-1532) was a United States Navy tanker in commission from 1917 to 1919. She was built as SS Standard Arrow for the Standard Oil Company. In World War II, she was again acquired by the U.S. Navy from Standard Oil and commissioned as USS Signal (IX-142) a station tanker in the Pacific from 1944 to 1946. Please review pictures and see the small metals , they are sterling silver, marked on back. You will see a large American Legion Medallion (brass) in the display case an is marked made is USA and patent Dec. 19. Condition great vintage, the sterling could be polished, but the vintage patina just adds to the pieces. The display box comes with the collection. Measures 20" x 8".
