Extraordinarily large Easter decoration:
A large nest made of green chenille with a bird chick and a birch tree with a watchful mother bird.

These beautiful birds on trees and nests have their tradition since the 1930s in Sonneberg/Germany and the neighborhood area.
This exceptionally large tree was made in the 1960s, during GDR times.
You can see this in the material of the birds: it is no longer thick wool mohair, but light, soft dralon.
The diameter of the nest is 10 cm ( 3.9 inch) and the total height with tree is 23 cm (9 inch).

It is in very good condition and a rarity in this size!
